During the year, many different groups and agencies use Canolfan Dewi Sant Centre, South Parade, Pensarn. Here is a run-down on what is happening at the Centre at the moment:-

St. Davids Church

The weekly service at St. David’s Church takes place every Tuesday morning at 10.30am. Everyone is welcome to this Church of Wales service.  Teas, coffees and biscuits are also available following the service.

Caffi Cwtch

Every Wednesday from 1pm to 3pm. Say no to loneliness and pop on down for a cuppa, biscuits and a chat! Everyone is welcome, you could end up chatting to neighbours you’ve never met before, the local PCSO or a local Councillor.  This is hosted by Theresa Curran, Centre Co-ordinator, so this is also a great way to find out more about what is happening at the Centre.

All Stars Dance 

9.30am to 10.45am on Saturday mornings is the time that the brand new All Stars Dance Musical Theatre Group for children age 6 and upwards meet. For more information please go to www.allstarsdance.co.uk and contact them directly!!

Food Share Pensarn – in partnership with HopeGiver.org.uk

Every Friday afternoon, 1pm to 2pm.  Food Share Pensarn is open to EVERYONE.  This is not a Food Bank – it is a Food Share.  Simply turn up, sign up, and pick up the food you want from the availability.  Up to £15 worth of food for just £3.50, or up to £10 of food for £2.50 or £5 of food for £1.50.

Yoga Classes with Conwy Yoga

Pritchard's Martial Arts

Silver Swans

Mind, Body, Dance 

The Mind, Body, Dance class takes place here 11am every Wednesday morning and is a fun dance activity for all, including people living with Parkinson’s, Dementia, MS and with the effects of a Stroke. Sit and Stew Community Café

U3A

The Abergele U3A (University of the Third Age) has more than 270 members and offers interest groups, talks and social activities for everyone.  Although they appeal particularly to people aged 50 or over, there are no age limits.   Many of their groups take place at our Centre - Ukulele, French, Music Appreciation.  Please visit their website for more details  www.u3asites.org.uk/abergele/home

Flying Start hold a few groups here during the year.  Please check with your Health Visitor for more details.

Job Club

The Job Club provides support for all things related to finding a new job - CVs, applications, interview techniques etc.  It takes place every Wednesday between 10am and 4pm.  This service is free of charge. 

Citizens Advice Bureau

Citizens Advice Bureau run an Open Advice drop-in Session at the Centre every Friday morning, from 9.30am to 12 noon. No need to book an appointment. The CAB can help you with such issues as: Switching & saving money on energy suppliers, home insurance etc.* Benefits checks/advice * Budgeting * Pension credits * Employment issues * Debts *.

Nacro

The Homeless Prevention team are here every Friday morning from 9.30am to 12 noon. If you have any questions regarding housing, benefits, finances, private rental then pop in and the team will do all they can to advise you.

 

WW (previously known as Weightwatchers)

WW meet every Tuesday at 6.30pm.  If you are looking to lose weight, in a friendly group environment, then pop along to this lovely group for support.  For more information, phone Denise Herrick on 0345 677 7788. 

 

Hearing Aid Clinic

The Hearing Aid Clinic takes place on the first Wednesday of every month from 10am to 12 noon at our Centre. The free clinic is open to everyone with an NHS hearing aid. No need to book, just drop in.

 

Carers Outreach

Carers Outreach support adult carers in North West Wales. They hold regular monthly meetings on the third Wednesday of every month at our Centre. Please telephone the Carers Outreach Colwyn Bay office on 01492 533714 if you would like to find out more.  

 

Abergele Boccia Club

Takes place every Wednesday from 1pm to 2.30pm. This is like sit down bowls, and is suitable for all abilities - and for disabled as well as able bodied people. No need to book - simply pop on down to our Centre at 1pm on a Wednesday, or look up Abergele Boccia Club on Facebook.

 

Encore School of Dance

Encore School of Dance hold term-time classes for children on Wednesdays from 3.45pm to 5.30pm. They teach ballet and modern stage dance to pupils of all ages.  Classes can be for fun or exam work.  Please telephone Miss Turner, Dance Teacher on 01492-660330 for more details.

 

Abergele Stroke Club

Our Centre is the base for the fortnightly Thursday afternoon meetings of Abergele Stroke Club. The Club was formed in 1987, since when it has been meeting the social needs of stroke survivors, contributing toward their well-being and ongoing rehabilitation, with the emphasis being on having fun! Singsation Pop Choir

Pensarn Coffee & Chat

The Coffee & Chat Group meet every Friday morning from 9.30am to 11.00am. This is a lovely friendly social group for the more senior members of our community. Please pop in to them on a Friday morning for a cuppa and a chat to find out more!!

Canolfan Dewi Sant Centre

The Centre

Offering the use of 5 versatile rooms plus an outside area to the rear, the Dewi Sant Centre is at the heart of the Pensarn community. From one to one appointments through to major training events/concerts/conferences - we have rooms to suit your requirements. 

 

Regular Events

Each week there is a variety of events going on for people of all ages. From pre school playgroup for toddlers to coffee and chat for retirees, there will be something for everyone. The groups here include Martial Arts, dance classes for children, fitness classes, Zumba, various support agencies,  Church groups, Weightwatchers, Parent & Tots groups, musical appreciation and many more. 

 

St David's Church

St David's Church has been on the site since 1880 and is still an integral part of the Dewi Sant Centre, with Church in Wales Services held every Tuesday morning followed by tea and coffee in the bistro.

 

Furnishings from the old Church are being used in this new and modern space.

 

The local community is welcome to join us. Everybody is invited to come and see the whole facility and marvel at the vision of old to new.
